Best practice in LUTD
The NUF collaboration group on Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction (LUTD) has a rich history, tracing back to 2008. Initially chaired by Elisabeth Farrelly (Stockholm, S) from 2008 to 2016, the role was then taken over by Charlotte Graugaard-Jensen (Aarhus, DK) until 2020, followed by Henriette Veiby Holm (Oslo, N) until 2024. I, Christine Reus, am honored to continue this legacy as Chair from October 2024 onward.
LUTD encompasses a wide range of conditions, primarily benign diseases and functional disorders. Our field covers neurourology, pelvic pain syndrome, bladder outlet obstruction, incontinence, overactive bladder, recurrent infections, pediatric micturition disorders, and sexual dysfunction, including cancer treatment’s long-term effects.
Urodynamic assessments play a pivotal role in our understanding and management of these conditions.
Our mission centers on fostering education, clinical practice, and research collaboration within the Nordic countries.
We achieve this through the organization of the biennial NUF congresses and our annual clinical, interactive LUTD and urodynamics courses, which rotate among Scandinavian countries to enhance accessibility and engagement.
Our clinical courses on LUTD and urodynamics have been held biennially since 2010 in Oslo, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. These courses cater to urologists, residents, and urotherapists, with each session offering fresh perspectives, interactive workshops, and ample opportunities for networking – a valuable addition to the scientific program.
The fifth course in Copenhagen (January 2020) addressed the late effects of cancer treatment, while the sixth, titled “LUTD: Idiopathic or Neurogenic – Does It Matter?” was held in Stockholm in September 2022 and was met with great enthusiasm.
The seventh course in Helsinki (September 2024), titled “Bladder Outlet Obstruction – To the Next Level,” garnered significant interest and was praised for its impactful discussions and knowledgeable speakers.
Preparations are now underway for the eighth course, which will be held in Oslo from September 18–19, 2026. Registration will open in January 2026 and close on August 1, 2026.
